Falling in love is easy. It’s not a choice. You get swept away by a force way beyond your control. Seeing a relationship and marriage through the tornados of life - that’s a whole other thing - that takes selflessness, GUTS and COMMITMENT.
Starting a creative project is easy. Anyone can have ideas and passion. But the TENACITY to ride through the inevitable unpredictable messy soul obliterating storm that is a new creation, putting your time money energy into something with NO guarantee that it won’t completely and utterly end up a sad sorry mess on the cutting room floor - that takes COURAGE and COMMITMENT .
Starting yoga, meditation, a new exercise regime or any kind of practice is easy. You feel amazing, connected, stronger, more powerful - you can’t believe it took you so long to get here! Maintaining that practice over months and years... dragging yourself back to the mat over and over again, through the humbling of injury and illness and life’s inevitable battering, that takes FAITH and COMMITMENT .
Commitment is hard.
It’s reserved for those SCARY parts of life where there is NO GUARANTEE, no gold star, no promises, no rudder, no ladder to climb, no definite shiny happy Hollywood ending tied up in a bow.
What there WILL be is fear and doubt and pain and boredom and frustration. But in that process, if you stay curious, there is lots of delicious learning.
And on the other side - that’s where all the good stuff lies.
So put an effing ring on it. For goodness sake.
